Our Wedding Story

We had the best wedding celebration with our closest family and friends on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at the Sterling Hotel in Sacramento, CA. It was the wedding of our dreams. Here is a recap of the story of how we met!

They both grew up and lived in Sacramento until they were 18 years old, without ever meeting. Missy took off to San Luis Obispo to study at Cal Poly and subsequently lived there for nearly six years. Will moved to San Diego for boot camp and then to Twentynine Palms where he was stationed in the United States Marines Corps. Both never imagined their lives back in Sacramento, however fate had a hand in making sure the two met. Each on their own, they began settling their lives in midtown Sacramento, creating new friends and spending more time with their families. Will and Missy had several friends in common and had seen each other at a couple of large gatherings. However, they never had the right opportunity to meet and get to know one another.

It was a happen-stance night that Missy’s then roommate and now bridesmaid, Colleen, invited her to a mutual friend’s birthday party. It was that night that the stars aligned and Will and Missy formally met. They shook hands at the party, and slowly, by the end of the night, they shared conversation and laughter. They parted that night with intentions of seeing each other again very soon.

‘Very soon’ became the next day, when they shared an evening getting to know one another over dinner. The following day, they went to a movie together. A few days later, they met for happy hour drinks. The next day, they shared dinner again, and the rest was written from there. Will and Missy became an inseparable item, sharing Friendsgivings and beach camping trips with their mutual friends, and New Year’s Eves with their families, either stirring fondue by candle light or cuddling by the fireplace at their snowy Strawberry cabin. They grew together as their relationship unfolded, always with laughter and respect for one another.

After two years of dating, Missy knew she wanted Will to move in and to start sharing not only their lives together but their home. The two experienced the joys of home ownership together, doing fixer-upper projects, walking their dogs in their neighborhood, gardening on Sunday mornings, and day dreaming of the ultimate home renovations in their future. With another year under their belt, Will knew he was ready to ask Missy the question she was ready to hear. The morning of their 6-day vacation cruise to the Mexican Rivera, Will rolled towards his sleeping beauty and whispered those four special words, “Will you marry me?” Startled after having just awakened, Missy exclaimed in shock, “But we have to catch our flight now!” Will rose to bring over to Missy a small box that held the big gesture of a committed life together. The two lovebirds scrambled with excitement to get ready for their trip, flew to Los Angeles, and sailed off to Mexico, celebrating the start of their engaged life together.

Will and Missy are even more excited to formally tie the knot and celebrate their long-standing commitment to one another that began from the start of their relationship. Join them as they live out their fate and what was written in the stars.
